Why Farmakey?
When it came to skincare, we were always let down by 99% of skincare products on the market, even the seemingly "natural" ones. Nothing really ever worked, or the farming practices were poor, and if it did help our skin, we often questioned if it was really worth it giving our bodies more toxic chemicals to deal with.

In 2022, when Tom went in for his first ever skin check, his doctor discovered a stage 2 melanoma in his neck which required 14 stitches, and so the journey began of researching and testing skincare to help with his recovery.
We took things into our own hands, and everything changed when we started perfecting Farmakey's tallow balms using regernative farming ingredients.
It's human nature to go after the next big thing, we see it all the time in the beauty industry, but what if I told you that the thing that may work the best has actually been around the longest?
The further our research went, the more amazing it was to find that animal fats in skincare were the NORM for the majority of our history. Some of the oldest manuscripts and tablets ever found (thousands of years ago across many cultures) include recipes for balms with animal fats, specifically suet fat, much like the type we use.

And it's no wonder why.
Tallow offers distinct advantages due to its truly unique composition. Possessing a high concentration of saturated and monounsaturated fats, it gives exceptional moisturizing and nourishing properties. These fats have a very close resemblance to the natural lipids found in our skin, in fact, "sebum" actually means "tallow" in latin - sebum being the oily substance that protects your skin from drying out... and the first time you try tallow you can instantly see why.
We combine this magical & sustainable ingredient with herbal/resin infusions which are left to bathe for weeks in sunlight, absorbing the whole of the plant/resin and its benefits, unlike essential oils. It's also a much more sustainable and ancient practice.
